What Does the
C1 Licence Allow?

A Category C1 licence permits the holder to drive vehicles with a gross weight between 3,500kg and 7,500kg — the medium van category that sits above a standard car licence and below a full LGV qualification.

It's an ideal progression from a standard Category B licence for drivers looking to build a professional driving career — and the essential stepping stone to a full C or C+E licence further down the line.

C1 is just the beginning

The C1 licence is the foundation for progressing to a full Category C rigid lorry or C+E artic licence — opening the door to the full range of LGV roles.
